Note: These are assumed as supplemental to Sect specific Lore. Toreador Lore 6 and 7 will also access those players to additional information provided by the Office of the Toreador Specialty Advisor for use in national plotlines. CbT is an abbreviation for Clanbook Toreador; LONr is an abbreviation for Laws of the Night, Revised; VtM refers to Vampire: the Masquerade.

x1: What an unreleased childe would have heard through the grapevine:

  • Understands that Toreador stand by arts and humanities.
  • Heard the terms Salon, Artiste, and Poseur, but does not understand what these mean.
  • Toreador are cliche-ish.
  • No Lineage knowledge.
  • Aware of arts on-going in city.
  • Knowledgeable of major artistic movements, but do not know of any Toreador impact upon these movements.
  • Toreador frequent art shows, high society galas, and media events.

x2: What a newly released Childe would know:

  • Can give brief summary of views Clan Toreador has on the other clans of their sect.
  • Basic understanding of Toreador ideals.
  • Learned the difference between Artiste and Poseur.
  • Knows the names of the Guilds.
  • Knows there are Lineages, but have maybe heard reference to half of them.
  • Knows base history of art, insofar as major movements and some minor movements within, but no knowledge of any Toreador impact upon any of these.
  • May have attended an exhibition.
  • Can recognize local Toreador.

x3: What an up-and-coming Toreador Powerhouse would know:

  • May be very concerned with your Artiste appearance, upon hearing some rumors [CbT, "Art's Defilers, pg. 24].
  • Knows Toreador specific events and rumors from 1700 to present time, or history of Clan Toreador which spans the character's lifetime, whichever is greater.
  • Basic introduction to the inter-workings of Clan politics and the use of status.
  • Heard some other disturbing rumors with regard to the Toreador and their relations [CbT,"Beauty and the Beast", pg. 15].
  • Recognizes any Toreador with Toreador Status of 4 or better.
  • Learned the names of the different Guilds, the focus of each, understands classification distinctions, aware of the Guild structure [apprentice to Didaskoli], but does not know their function.
  • Learned the names of some of the other coteries within clan Toreador, but are unsure as to their membership and purpose.
  • Knows the names of the major Toreador Lineages, and can contact its most prominent member easily; heard mention of some of the minor Toreador Lineages.
  • Able to distinguish between the classifications and types of Art.
  • Aware of how Clan Toreador has impacted the major artistic movements.
  • Understands the differences between the various Toreador gatherings, and may have even been invited to a Salon.

x4: What an established Toreador has overheard:

  • Understands enough about the relationship between the Artistes and Poseurs to know that no one should feel threatened by being referred to as a Poseur.
  • Knows Toreador specific events and rumors from 1400 to present time, or history of Clan Toreador which spans the character's lifetime, whichever is greater.
  • Heard some rumors about the Clan Founders [CbT, paragraph 1-5, "A Frightening Legacy", pg. 11].
  • Can recognize any Toreador with Toreador status 3 or better.
  • Knows the names of each Didaskalos for each Guild, all of the members of the Guild in your Region.
  • Knows most of the ideologies of the major Toreador Coteries or a prominent member of that coterie.
  • Has several contacts within the Major Toreador Lineages, and knows the names of all of the minor Toreador Lineages.
  • Has become distinctly aware of the arts, able to match artist to work with great ease.
  • Heard some rumors of how Toreador have influenced the minor movements.
  • Can wrangle special invitations to major Toreador Balls or Grand Salons; knows the etiquette of how to host Salons and may know enough etiquette to effectively host a Toreador Ball.

x5: Gossip that takes real talent to uncover [RST Approval]

  • Heard some rumors of Toreador specific sections of the Book of Nod, not knowing what specifically it said.
  • Knows Toreador specific events and rumors from 500 to present time, or history of Clan Toreador which spans the character's lifetime, whichever is greater.
  • Heard some interesting rumors of the Clan Founders [CbT, paragraph 1-8, "A Frightening Legacy", pg. 11]. Can recognize any Toreador with 2 or more status.
  • Knows the history of the recent re-establishment of the Guilds, and knows the Guild Membership of neighboring Regions.
  • Has heard rumors of the minor Toreador coteries.
  • Knows most, if not all, of the members of the Major Toreador Lineages, and knows to contact the most prominent member of each minor Toreador Lineage.
  • Aware of how Toreador have influenced the minor movements.
  • Knows the secret motivations behind those who sponsor Salons, and usually has an inside ear, whether you attend that salon or not.
  • Knows the etiquette for hosting a Grand Salon.

x6: Rumors and Secrets which fall beyond Gossip [RST Approval]

  • May own some portions of the Book of Nod relating to the Toreador.
  • Knows Toreador specific events and rumors from 1 AD to present time, or history of Clan Toreador which spans the character's lifetime, whichever is greater.
  • Has heard all the rumors of the legends of the First City and some of the legends of the Second City from the Toreador perspective.
  • Has heard a few more interesting rumors [CbT, All of "A Frightening Legacy", pg. 11].
  • Can recognize any Toreador with in clan status.
  • Can name all of the Grand Masters and Syndaskoli of the Guilds, and possibly have contacts there in; knows of the history of the Guilds from 1400 to the present time.
  • Has a contact within the minor Toreador Cotories.
  • Very aware of Toreador Lineages.
  • Aware of each and every Toreador influenced artistic movement.

x7: Rumors and Secrets no one talks about [NST Approval]

  • Owns significant portions of the Book of Nod that relate to the Toreador in.
  • Knows first hand what happened in the First City and in the Second City.
  • Can name all of the Didaskoli of the Guilds, and most probably has their ear.
  • Knows several contacts in the minor, secretive coteries.
  • Has hosted many Grand Salons.
